Daisy Duet

Daisy Duet  © 2013 Amy Hillenbrand
8 x 8 oil on 1" cradle board

About the Painting
When I look at this little painting, the little daisies come alive for me.  Here is what I see, these two little daisies have just finished a beautiful ballet. It is now time for them to take their bows.  The curtain has been raised after the first bow and now they are looking up into the box seats soaking in all the applause. The spotlight is focused right on them.  This photo was taken right before they take that second bow takes place. Yes, I know I have a funny little imagination, but really, that's what I see, What do you see?

Petite Pincushion

Petite Pincushion  © 2013 Amy Hillenbrand
7 x 5 oil on board

About the Painting
These sweet little flowers are from my backyard. The common name is Pincushion and they bloom in the spring. The wee painting just flew off my brush.  I love those days when things just click and this was one of those days. I think it is my new favorite painting. The phrase: less is more, comes to mind.

The Sweet, The Seductive, The Sublime

The Sweet, The Seductive, The Sublime © 2013 Amy Hillenbrand
22 x 28 oil painting on linen

About the Painting
I love these Stargazers, I know, I know I probably say that about all flowers. But these really do have a special place in my heart. On my very first date with a very sweet romantic man he bought these lilies for me.   Not only are they gorgeous, but the scent they put out is very intoxicating. (I bet soon those smart computer dudes will figure out a way to send scent through the computer.)  Okay so back to the date, not only did this Romeo have these gorgeous Lilly's, he was playing romantic music by Eva Cassidy. As I think back to that date, I realized he was hitting all my senses: sight, sound, smell and feelings.  Since all my senses were involved I can remember ever second of the date. What a Wooer he was. Yep, you guessed it, 3 years later we were married. Every time I bring these flowers into my home we both think back to that wonderful night. Can you say awwwwwww?

On another note, to make this lovely painting a little more challenging, these Stargazers are double blooms, most typically you will find the single bloom.  I've been told I like a challenge, Whew!
