Red or Wild?

Born to be Red © 2011 Amy Hillenbrand
11 x 14 Oil on Board
sold

I love these little red shoes. Yes, you've seen them before and no, this is not the same painting. Fooled'ya didn't I? I had used these as my model before, when I was doing 3 little 5 x 7 paintings for a local charity event. I think these shoes have so much personality and I was excited to paint them again. Turns out, these shoes have a lot of sentimental value to the owner. She bought them in a exotic country (no wonder I liked them) and she had the time of her life on this vacation. If shoes could talk...maybe I should have titled the painting Born to be Wild.

I have whittled down my to do list quite a bit and it leaves me feeling as though I have all my ducks in a row. It feels so nice. I wish the feeling would last, that would be so ducky! Sorry I couldn't resist.

My Art Consultant

Berry Red © 2011 Amy Hillenbrand
8 x 10 Oil on Canvas
When composing this piece I had it in my mind these shoes somehow coordinated  with my new strawberry plant. My little helper thought so, too. She was trying to arrange the leaves so they looked just perfect in the picture. Oh, what would I do without her. I consulted with her again while I was working on the piece (as I was having a moment of frustration painting the plaid)  she thought it might look groovy if I painted the shoes red to tie back into the strawberry that was just starting to peek out. Do you think my consultant was right?

Man's Best Friend ?

Tiny Boy © 2011 Amy Hillenbrand
12 x 12 Oil on Canvas

Meet Tiny Boy.  Tiny Boy is a Ragdoll kitty, the same breed of kitty as my dear beloved Sophie. It is so fun that this kitty is called Tiny Boy because he is actually GI-normous! He is the size of two or three of my kitty.

In this painting he is posing in his favorite pink bed. His owner never had the heart to tell him pink was a girl color, none the less, he still loved his very feminine fuzzy pink bed.  No one has to be embarrassed for him anymore because their outdoor kitty came in the house one day and out of spite, pee'd all over Tiny Boy's bed and then left out the kitty door. Can you say jealous?  Alas, the bed needed to be thrown out. This kitty portrait will be a birthday gift from Tiny Boy's Mom to Tiny Boy's Dad. Man's best friend is not always a dog.
