I hope you don't think I am to boastful, but I really like this painting. It was fun to paint and I do get a warm fuzzy feeling when I look at it now.  I wish for all of you to have the same warm fuzzy feeling when you see it. However, if you don't, I have included another warm fuzzy rendition just in case.

Do you get plagued with procrastination from time to time? You know, where your butt gets frozen to the couch and the only thing moving are your fingers on the remote. I think we often get frozen by the thought that we have to move mountains and so moving mountains is a very big task. I don't even think superman did that in any of his movies. Well if superman didn't do it, how in the world will you. Have you noticed if you can take just one little step to get in gear, the next thing you know you're doing the next thing and then the next thing.

Next time you  experience frozen butt syndrome, slap those shoes on and go for a walk and see where those little baby steps take you. I think Isaac was a pretty smart dude.

 

The Love of Art

You may be wondering why I called this painting Boop Boop e Boot. The sweet little face, sewn into these little baby, Uggs reminded me of Betty Boop the 1930 cartoon character. She liked to sing a little diddy which went something like this:boop-boop-e-doop. See her singing  here in this 9 second clip from a 1930's cartoon.

I had a wonderful Aha moment the other day. I was painting along in my sun filled room and realized I was having fun, that I loved what I was doing. Now you may think well, of course you do, isn't that why you are an artist, you have a love for art. In that split second I came to realize what I had been doing in my mind was making painting a four letter word 

spelled: J. O. B.   I had inadvertently lost the joy of the pure pleasure of painting  and replaced it with the feeling that it was work. So in that split second I also made the decision that I would replace the feeling of work with the feeling of play.

What are Your Rules?

You may remember these little booties from when they made their modeling debut in Boot Buddies and About Face. Some where in my brain I have this rule "thou shalt not paint the same thing twice". Not sure where that rule came from, but it is alive a kicking.  Yet, here they are again. Funny, the sky didn't fall.

Isn't it interesting how these sub-conscious rules can dictate the way we live our lives? Can you think of any rules that you have in the recesses of your mind that hold you back?
